"Remember the days you prayed for the things you have now"

"Remember the days you prayed for the things you have now"

4 ways to show gratitude.

1. Dhikr - Remembrance of Allah

"Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find
rest". One of the ways we can express gratitude for the
favours bestowed upon us is to mindfully remember
Allah within such favours. For example, if Allah has
blessed you with something good, whenever you look
at that thing & it brings you joy, make it a habit to
thank & praise Allah for it.

Take food for example, every time you're able to eat a
tasty meal, thank Allah for the food you have. For the
flavours, for the textures, for the wholesome
ingredients, for the nutrition it provides you. For the
fact that you can digest the food without pain &
discomfort. Doing this with all aspects of your life will
remind you of how many AMAZING things you have to
be immensely grateful for.

SubhanAllah, Alhamdulilah, Allahuakbar.

2. Use what you have been given to assist others

Every blessing that we have can be used to benefit
ourselves & others. This can be in the form of charity, a
kind word, a warm smile, offering your time, sound
advice, sharing your knowledge or even correcting
someone's mistakes in a manner that will induce a
positive change.

We mustn't forget that every blessing we have been
given is a test. It can also be used as a means of
gaining more blessings & earning the pleasure of Allah.
For example: If someone has been blessed with a lot
of knowledge in a particular field, sharing that
knowledge will be a means of benefit for themselves &
others.

3. Avoid wallowing in self pity or jealousy

Whenever you catch yourself coveting what someone
else has or feeling discontented, make it a habit to
count your own blessings. There is always something
that you have which the other person may lack.
If you find yourself feeling jealous of someone else,
stop yourself & ask Allah to bless you in what you
have.

4. Reflect on all the times your duas have been
answered.

This is why it helps to keep a dua journal - so you can
have a physical reminder of all the times you wanted
something so much & how you felt when it was given
to you.

Expressing gratitude for the favours of Allah is a
lifelong exercise. May we always be amongst the
grateful. Ameen
